In January 2018 we decided to go to Gran Canaria to enjoy a bit of sun for a week and also rent two bikes for 3 days. We stayed in a small place in San Valentin y Terraflor Park in Playa del Ingles. It was OK – we had a very nice neighbour (an old boy from Germany whose wife had died – he was always very worried when we went out motorbiking). This was the first time we had rented motorbikes abroad and rode any hairpins – slightly nerve-wrecking. We rented 2 x Honda CB 500 from Moto & Bike Rent. Three routes, including GC-60 up to San Bartolome. GC-65 over to Santa Lucia and GC-200 to Mogan and Puerto de la Aldea. After our initial worry about hairpins, we really enjoyed the three days riding around. On the first day we encountered very strong winds and turned around before we got to La Aldea. On the second day we went up into the mountains and had lunch at St. Lucia at the restaurant Mirador de Santa Lucia (very nice). We also kept stopping at a little cafe restaurant on the GC-200 called ‘Las Canadas’ – cheap and cheerful and surprisingly good food. On our days off the bike we went to the sand dunes of Maspalomas and on the last day we treated ourselves to a massage and lunch at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort in Maspalomas. All in all great trip !
