RIDE REVIEWS by Liz: Mallorca 15 to 24 May 2018

15-25 May 2018: Trip to Mallorca. We stayed in Guest2Guest property in the North East in Font de Sa Cala. Apartment was OK. There were quite a few nice restaurants in the neighbouring town of Cala Ratjada – but you needed to drive there in the car and parking was a challenge. For three days we rented two motorbikes (I had a Honda CB 500 and Geoff had a Suzuki VStrom 650). We rented from a place in Can Picafort (Most Wanted Motorcycles). But this also meant, that we had to leave our car in Can Picafort and had no car in the evenings, so needed to find some local restaurants (a bit challenging). Motorbikes were OK, but not the newest (as often from these rental places). We did various routes across the island. Over to Alcudia and Pollenca. The nicest road was the Ma-10 towards Lluc and Escorca. Once we went further and then (by accident) rode on the Ma-2100 (not very good surface and super tight hairpins, almost back on yourself). I hated that road. We also rode along the East Coast to Cala Millor and Sa Coma. As you can see from the photos, on most days we had great weather (almost too hot). We also went to Manacor (home town of Rafael Nadal). One day we went to Arta and walked around the little streets and up to the church. In Can Picafort was a ‘Trotters British and Irish Pub’ – even had a Reliant Regal on the roof. Geoff liked it that they had Guinness, which he enjoyed after we had returned the motorbikes. We had some great food (sometimes just tapas which were yummy). Also managed to meet up with our old sailing teacher Martin, who now lives in Alcudia. Weather was very good and we had a great time in Mallorca.
